This Intensive course is delivered by our Spanish partners TDPE of Spain. The Spanish have been working with an active terrorist threat in their country for over thirty years. As a result, they have significant experience with close protection. They have created a practical, real world close protection program, specifically designed for small teams of one, two or three.
Regardless of who the protected is, this program will prepare personnel for protecting, threat assessment, movement, and evacuation. Considerable emphasis will be placed on planning and prevention.
All course candidates must be employed by a recognized government protective detail, Law enforcement agency, or the military. The course candidate must by nature of his employment be involved in close protection at some level, or working towards that objective. If requested by CIPS inc. the course candidate must provide a recent criminal history check and be clear of any criminal charges, or convictions.

The History of of International Training Projects (Canadian and Spanish collaborations)
CIPS Inc and TDPE of Spain became associated in 2002 with E.B. of Spain, who was visiting Edmonton, researching an article for a Spanish police magazine. This was the beginning of a professional relationship, which has resulted in numerous collaborations and joint training projects in both Canada and the European Union.

These include TDPE attending the Canadian Officer Safety Conference in 2003 to provide a seminar on Close protection based on the BASC terrorist threat in Spain. The concepts have been developed specifically for Spanish operators who are forced to work with limited resources. As a result of this seminar, TDPE attended the Edmonton Police Service on two additional occasions to provide two courses. One was the CQB shooting course, which was provided to the EPS firearms Instructors, the second was a VIP close protection course, which was provided to a variety of tactical operators from Edmonton, Calgary, RCMP ERT, and agencies from the B.C. lower mainland. Summer 2007 TDPE returned to Edmonton to the Alberta solicitor general staff college for a 3 day edged weapon defense course. This course was attended by members of the Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, police services, as well as Alberta, Yukon, NWT, conservation departments, RCMP, Gov. of Canada fisheries and oceans, Alberta sheriffs, and corrections. The course was supported by Shocknife Inc. As a result of these collaborations TDPE has brought many concepts and ideas back to Spain to improve police professionalism and public and police officer safety. These include the introduction of TASER to Spain, rapid deployment to active violence, safety protocols, and the use of shocknife as a training tool (just to name a few). Course collaborations have continued through 2009 and 2010. In Edmonton and Winnipeg.
